Roorkee, 22nd September 2025 – The Quantum School of Agricultural Studies, Quantum University, successfully organized a highly engaging One-Day Workshop on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) to raise awareness among students and faculty about the significance of IPR in innovation, research, and entrepreneurship.
Inaugural Session
The workshop commenced with an inspiring address by Prof. (Dr.) Vivek Kumar, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, emphasized the growing importance of intellectual property in today’s knowledge-driven economy. He encouraged students to protect their innovations as a means to foster creativity, promote entrepreneurship, and contribute meaningfully to nation-building.

Dr. Gaurav Aggarwal, Head of Department, also addressed the gathering, underlining the crucial role of IPR in academic and industrial ecosystems. He urged students to explore patentable innovations and build competencies in protecting their intellectual contributions.
Expert Session
The highlight of the workshop was an interactive session conducted by Dr. Shweta Sen Thalwal, Founder & CEO of Integrum IP Consultancy, a leading IPR expert. Her lecture covered both fundamentals and advanced aspects of IPR, with real-world case studies from agriculture, biotechnology, and start-up ecosystems.

Key insights from her session included:
- The process of filing patents and common pitfalls for first-time applicants.
- Strategic role of IPR in start-ups and business opportunities.
- Case studies on the successful monetization of intellectual property by Indian and global innovators.
- Hands-on demonstrations of patent search techniques and basic patent drafting.
Interactive Activities
To enhance participation, two IPR quizzes were conducted during the workshop. Students enthusiastically took part, reinforcing their learning engagingly and competitively.

The workshop witnessed active involvement from over 140 students of B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture, BBA & BA LLB, Health Sciences, B.Tech., along with 25 faculty members. Esteemed faculty members present included Dr. Anjay Singh Bisht, Dr. Rakesh Kumar, Ms. Pooja Bartwal, Ms. Monika, Mr. Naveen Kumar, Dr. Asheesh Malik, Dr. Avinash Varma, Ms. Madhulika Mittal, and Ms. Meenakshi Tyagi.
Coordination & Vote of Thanks
The event was seamlessly coordinated by Dr. Shivani Tyagi, who concluded the workshop with a heartfelt Vote of Thanks, acknowledging the efforts of the organizers, participants, and resource persons.
