Quantum University, Roorkee, celebrated the auspicious festival of Chhath Puja with immense devotion, cultural richness, and traditional fervor on 27th October 2025, from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM, at the Shyam Ji Auditorium. The celebration, organized under the guidance of the Dean, Student Welfare, beautifully reflected the spirit of gratitude, purity, and togetherness that defines this sacred festival.
A Sacred Beginning
The event began with a traditional prayer ceremony dedicated to Surya Dev (the Sun God) and Chhathi Maiya, symbolizing thankfulness for nature’s life-sustaining energies and blessings. The auditorium glowed with diyas, floral decorations, and vibrant motifs, creating a serene and divine atmosphere reminiscent of the traditional ghats where the festival is celebrated.
Cultural Expressions of Devotion
Following the rituals, the celebration unfolded into a colorful cultural program, where students presented soulful devotional songs, classical dance performances, and poetic recitations capturing the spiritual and social essence of Chhath Puja.
The performances reflected the deep cultural roots of India’s eastern traditions, with students showcasing the festival’s values of faith, discipline, and harmony through music and dance. Each act added a touch of reverence and joy, uniting the audience in collective devotion.
Words of Wisdom and Reflection
Addressing the gathering, the Dean, Student Welfare, emphasized the importance of celebrating traditional festivals on campus. He stated,
“Chhath Puja not only strengthens our connection with nature and culture but also nurtures values of gratitude, discipline, and collective harmony among students.”
A sacred verse from the Aditya Hridayam was also recited during the ceremony:
“जपाकुसुमसङ्काशं काश्यपेयं महाद्युतिम्।
तमोऽरिं सर्वपापघ्नं प्रणतोऽस्मि दिवाकरम्॥”
(I bow to the Sun God, who shines like the red lotus, destroyer of darkness and all sins.)
The chanting of this verse filled the auditorium with an atmosphere of peace and sanctity, symbolizing the divine energy that sustains life on earth.

The celebration concluded with collective prayers for peace, prosperity, and universal well-being, embodying the spirit of unity and cultural reverence that defines the ethos of Quantum University.
