Level 2 Advanced Workshop on Financial Literacy & Mutual Fund Distribution (NISM Series V-A)

Under Project GAURAV

The Department of Commerce and Finance, Quantum University, Roorkee, successfully organized a Level 2 (Layer 2) Advanced Workshop on Financial Literacy & Mutual Fund Distribution (NISM Series V-A) under Project GAURAV from 16th February to 21st February 2026. The workshop, conducted over a total duration of 30 hours, was held in collaboration with Mindclub Foundation, a Certified Training Partner of the National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) and the National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM), along with implementation partner Talentskillsvarsity.

This advanced workshop represented the second level of professional training under Project GAURAV and was designed to equip students with industry-relevant, employable skills in the financial markets domain. The focus of the program was the NISM Mutual Fund Distributor (Series V-A) Certification Module, which plays a vital role in shaping careers within the Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance (BFSI) sector.

Purpose and Academic Significance

The primary objective of the workshop was to deepen students’ understanding of mutual fund structures, regulatory frameworks, financial products, and distribution mechanisms. The initiative aimed to bridge the gap between theoretical classroom learning and practical industry requirements, enabling students to pursue professional certification and career opportunities in financial advisory and mutual fund distribution.

By integrating structured training with exam-focused preparation, the workshop provided a comprehensive academic and professional learning experience aligned with current market expectations.

Leadership Support

The Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Vivek Kumar, and Director, Quantum School of Business, Prof. (Dr.) Manish Srivastava, appreciated the Department of Commerce and Finance for initiating such industry-aligned certification training. They encouraged students to take full advantage of professional certification programs, emphasizing that skill-based financial education enhances career prospects and strengthens industry readiness.

The workshop was conducted by Mr. Gaurav Patel, SEBI Securities Market Trainer and empanelled trainer with NISM, NSE, BSE, and MCX. Through interactive and application-oriented sessions, he delivered in-depth training on the following key areas:

  • Fundamentals of investment planning
  • Structure and functioning of mutual funds
  • Regulatory framework governing mutual funds
  • Investor services and grievance redressal
  • Systematic Investment Plans (SIP), Systematic Transfer Plans (STP), and Systematic Withdrawal Plans (SWP)
  • Taxation aspects of mutual fund investments
  • Performance evaluation and risk assessment
  • Exam-oriented strategies for NISM Series V-A certification

The sessions combined conceptual clarity with practical insights, ensuring that students developed both technical knowledge and applied skills required for professional practice.

Coordination and Academic Guidance

The event was effectively coordinated by Ms. Rupali Khurana, Nodal Officer for Project GAURAV at Quantum University. Academic guidance was provided by Dr. Varsha Gupta, Coordinator, Department of Commerce and Finance. Their structured planning, consistent monitoring, and dedicated support ensured smooth and successful execution of the workshop.

Participants and Learning Approach

The workshop witnessed active participation from:

  • B.Com II Semester students (Batch 2025–28)
  • MBA I Year students (Batch 2025–27)

The training concluded with intensive revision sessions and mock test practice to strengthen conceptual understanding and exam readiness. This structured preparation enhanced students’ confidence and readiness for the certification examination.

Upon completion of the workshop, eligible students were given the opportunity to appear for the NISM Mutual Fund Distributor (Series V-A) Certification Examination at no additional cost under Project GAURAV. Successful candidates will receive official certification from the National Institute of Securities Markets, a credential that significantly enhances professional credibility within the BFSI sector.
