Educational Visit to Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) and Company Bagh, Saharanpur

As part of the ongoing Orientation Program for B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture students, Quantum University organized an educational visit to Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Saharanpur, and Company Bagh, Saharanpur. The visit was designed to provide students with practical exposure to agricultural practices, innovative techniques, and the ecological significance of botanical gardens, thereby complementing their classroom learning with field-based insights.

Visit to Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Saharanpur

The students were warmly welcomed by Prof. (Dr.) I. K. Kushwaha, Officer-in-charge, along with KVK faculty and staff. During the session, students learned about the role of KVKs in agricultural extension, technology transfer, and farmer training. Key highlights included:

  • Demonstrations on crop production techniques, soil testing, weed and pest management, and integrated farming systems.
  • Exposure to farm mechanization, organic farming practices, and agri-based entrepreneurship opportunities such as dairy, poultry, and vermicomposting.
  • A guided tour of the Herbal Garden, Poultry Farm, Vermicompost Unit, and Crop Demonstration Plots.

Expert interactions:

  • Dr. Manoj Kumar shared insights on Animal Husbandry and Natural Farming.
  • Dr. Ravindra Kumar emphasized the importance of cleanliness and community responsibility through Swachhta Pakhwada initiatives.

Visit to Company Bagh, Saharanpur

Post the KVK tour, students visited Company Bagh, a historic botanical garden known for its plant diversity and heritage. The visit gave them an opportunity to:

  • Explore ornamental, medicinal, and rare plant species.
  • Learn about the layout and management of botanical gardens.
  • Understand the role of botanical gardens in plant conservation and urban ecology.

This educational visit offered students:
