The Department of Commerce and Finance, Quantum University, Roorkee, in collaboration with the National Service Scheme (NSS) and Shiv Yogi Organics, organized a rural outreach programme titled “किसान संवेदना: किसानों के लिए वित्तीय योजनाओं के बारे में जागरूकता” on 03 December 2025 at Khajuri Akbarpur. The initiative was aimed at spreading awareness among farmers about various government financial schemes, strengthening their understanding of available benefits, and promoting financial inclusion in rural communities.

As part of the programme, students of B.Com First Year visited the village and interacted directly with farmers through one-to-one conversations, small group discussions, and informal meetings. The students adopted a simple, friendly, and approachable communication style to ensure that information was easily understood and relatable to the rural audience.
During the outreach, detailed information was shared on key government schemes including Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN), Kisan Credit Card (KCC), Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY), Soil Health Card Scheme, Agricultural Infrastructure Fund (AIF), and other NABARD-supported programmes. Students explained eligibility conditions, documentation requirements, application processes, and the specific benefits of each scheme in practical and easy-to-understand language.

In addition to financial literacy, the programme also focused on sustainable agricultural practices with support from Shiv Yogi Organics. Discussions highlighted the benefits of organic farming, reduced cost of cultivation, soil health improvement, and government incentives available for adopting eco-friendly farming methods. Farmers actively participated in these discussions, raised questions related to loan access, crop insurance claims, and subsidy procedures, and shared their experiences and concerns.
The outreach programme proved beneficial for both the farming community and the students. Farmers appreciated the clarity of information and the supportive approach of the student volunteers. For the students, the activity offered valuable experiential learning by providing first-hand exposure to rural realities, enhancing communication skills, and deepening their understanding of the financial systems supporting Indian agriculture.

The programme successfully met its objective of sensitizing farmers about government financial schemes and empowering them with relevant and actionable knowledge. It also reinforced Quantum University’s commitment to community engagement, rural development, and socially responsible education. The university plans to continue organizing similar initiatives in the future to support farmer welfare and holistic student learning.
