The Quantum School of Business at Quantum University, Roorkee, under the aegis of the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), successfully organized a debate competition on the theme “India–UK Free Trade Agreement: Opportunities for Industries” on 27th August 2025.

The event began with a warm welcome by Sneha (MBA student), who greeted the Honorable Director Dr. Manish Srivastava, Event Coordinator Dr. Mousmi Goel, Co-Coordinator Dr. Sana Zaidi, and respected judges Ms. Manvi Tyagi and Mr. Abhishek Kumar, along with faculty members and students. In her opening remarks, she highlighted how Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) are not limited to trade policies but are significant drivers of industrial growth, economic development, and global career opportunities for young professionals.
Highlights of the Debate
Students from MBA, BBA, and B.Com programs actively participated in the competition, presenting arguments both in favor of and against the India–UK Free Trade Agreement (FTA). Key points discussed included:
- Opportunities to boost exports and attract foreign investments
- Potential for international collaborations and industrial growth
- Challenges of global competition, policy adjustments, and market risks
The debate was conducted under structured rules, with each participant receiving 60 seconds for their presentation, followed by a rebuttal round, and concluding with the judgment from the panel of experts.

The event reached its highlight with the announcement of winners:
- First Runner-Up: Abhishek (MBA, 1st Year) and Anushree (BBA, 1st Year)
- Best Arguments (Winners): Md. Saad (BBA, 2nd Year) and Kisna (B.Com, 1st Year)
The Director of Quantum School of Business along with the judges felicitated the winners and congratulated all participants for their thought-provoking insights and confident delivery.
