Structural Engineering Lab

Structural Engineering Lab

The Structural Engineering Lab is designed to study the behavior of structural elements and systems under static and dynamic loading. It is equipped with models and apparatus to investigate deflections of beams, columns, and frames, as well as vibration characteristics of structural members. Students perform experiments on elastic properties, stability of columns, load carrying capacity, and behavior of portals and trusses. The lab also includes setups for resonance, vibration tables, and strain measurement systems to analyze the response of structures to dynamic forces such as wind, traffic, and earthquakes. By linking theoretical analysis with experimental results, students gain insights into stress distribution, structural stiffness, and dynamic performance. This lab plays a vital role in preparing future civil engineers to design safe, efficient, and earthquake-resistant structures that meet modern codes and sustainability standards.
