Quantum University Reviews and Strengthens B.Com Curriculum for Academic Session 2026-27

The Department of Commerce and Finance, Quantum University, Roorkee, successfully conducted its Board of Studies (BoS) Meeting for the academic session 2026-27 on June 4, 2026, at Harmony Hall, F Block. Chaired by Dr. Varsha Gupta, Coordinator of the department, the meeting focused on strengthening the academic framework of B.Com programmes in line with NEP 2020, industry expectations, and emerging professional trends. The meeting was attended by academic and industry experts, alumni representatives, and faculty members.

The Board reviewed and approved the Action Taken Report for the academic session 2025-26 and discussed feedback received from students, faculty, and industry stakeholders. Members appreciated the successful integration of skill-based and industry-relevant courses and recommended further enhancements in experiential learning, communication skills, and professional development.

A key highlight of the meeting was the approval of the proposed B.Com (Accounting and Taxation – ACCA UK) programme for Batch 2026-29 and Batch 2026-30. The programme is designed to equip students with globally recognized accounting and taxation competencies while enhancing career opportunities and professional readiness. The proposal was recommended for further approval by the Academic Council and Board of Management.

The Board also approved new courses such as Income Tax Law and Practices and Auditing and Assurance, along with several employability-focused subjects. In addition, Value-Added Certification Courses including Introduction to Mutual Funds (NCFM), Tally Prime-Advanced, Basic and Advanced Excel, AI in Accounting, NISM VIII (Derivatives), and Portfolio Management Services were approved for the academic session 2026-27.

The detailed curriculum and syllabus for B.Com specializations in Banking & Insurance, Fintech, and Accounting & Taxation (ACCA UK) were thoroughly reviewed and approved. The experts appreciated the department’s efforts towards curriculum modernization and industry integration. The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks, reaffirming the department’s commitment to delivering quality, industry-oriented commerce education.
