Quantum University Organizes Session on Ergonomic Design in Mechanical Engineering

14 September 2026

The Department of Mechanical Engineering, Quantum University, organized an informative session on “Ergonomic Design in Mechanical Engineering” to create awareness among students about the importance of ergonomics in engineering design and workplace safety.

The session focused on the application of ergonomic principles to machines, tools, workstations, and industrial environments with the aim of improving human comfort, safety, efficiency, and productivity. Students were introduced to the importance of considering human factors while developing mechanical systems and designing industrial workplaces.

The expert discussion covered key areas including human-machine interaction, posture, workplace layout, manual handling, anthropometric considerations, fatigue reduction, and prevention of work-related injuries. Students gained practical insights into how these factors can influence the usability, safety, and effectiveness of engineering systems.

Interactive discussions and examples from real industrial applications helped students understand the relationship between ergonomic design and sustainable productivity. The session encouraged participants to look beyond technical functionality and consider the human requirements associated with engineering solutions.

The event motivated students to adopt a human-centred approach to mechanical engineering design and consider safety, comfort, usability, and efficiency in their future academic projects and professional practices. The initiative reinforced the importance of integrating ergonomic thinking into modern engineering education.
