Quantum University Organizes Interactive Mixology Session for Hospitality Students

04 May 2026

The Department of Hospitality Management at Quantum University successfully organized an engaging and skill-oriented Mixology Session for students of Food and Beverage Service. The session was designed to provide participants with both theoretical understanding and practical exposure to modern beverage preparation and professional service techniques used in the hospitality and tourism industry.

The session introduced students to the art and science of mixology, focusing on the preparation, mixing, and presentation of cocktails and mocktails in a professional environment. Participants gained hands-on experience with various ingredients, syrups, juices, herbs, mixers, and garnishes commonly used in beverage service operations. Students were also familiarized with the proper handling and use of bar equipment such as shakers, strainers, muddlers, jiggers, blenders, and different types of glassware.

During the practical demonstrations, students learned several beverage preparation techniques including shaking, stirring, muddling, layering, blending, and garnishing. Special emphasis was placed on beverage aesthetics, presentation skills, and maintaining efficiency during service operations. The session also highlighted the importance of hygiene, sanitation, and safety standards in bar and beverage service management.

In addition to technical learning, the session focused on enhancing customer service and communication skills essential for hospitality professionals. Students actively participated in creative activities where they designed innovative mocktails and cocktails using balanced flavors, vibrant colors, and attractive presentation styles. The activities encouraged teamwork, coordination, time management, and professional conduct among participants.

The session further addressed modern sustainable practices in hospitality operations by discussing eco-friendly approaches such as minimizing beverage waste, reducing plastic usage, and promoting the use of fresh local ingredients. These discussions helped create awareness among students regarding responsible and sustainable hospitality management practices.

The Mixology Session proved to be an enriching learning experience for the students, helping them develop confidence, creativity, professionalism, and practical expertise required in hotels, restaurants, resorts, and tourism establishments. The event successfully strengthened students’ industry-oriented skills and provided valuable exposure to contemporary trends in food and beverage service.
