The Department of Sciences, Quantum University, organized an engaging Indian Knowledge System (IKS) Poster Presentation Event for B.Sc. (Hons.) students with the objective of creating awareness about India’s rich intellectual, scientific, cultural, and technological heritage. The event provided students with a platform to explore traditional Indian knowledge and understand its relevance in the context of modern science and education.
The poster presentation covered a diverse range of themes, including ancient Indian mathematics, astronomy, Ayurveda, traditional medicine, architecture, metallurgy, agriculture, environmental conservation, yoga, philosophy, education systems, and indigenous technologies. Students prepared informative and creative posters and presented their understanding of various contributions associated with Indian scholars and knowledge traditions.
A key focus of the event was the connection between traditional wisdom and contemporary scientific thinking. Through their presentations, students explored how knowledge developed in ancient India continues to influence modern practices and can offer insights into present-day challenges. The activity also promoted interdisciplinary learning by connecting science with history, culture, technology, and sustainable practices.
The experiential nature of the presentation helped students develop important skills in research, critical thinking, scientific communication, creativity, teamwork, and public speaking. Students presented their topics before faculty members and peers, responded to questions, and exchanged ideas, gaining confidence in communicating their knowledge.
The event successfully highlighted the importance of preserving, understanding, and integrating India’s traditional knowledge with modern education. It provided students with a meaningful opportunity to explore India’s intellectual heritage while developing skills that support academic learning and interdisciplinary thinking.
