The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Quantum University, Roorkee, organized a hands-on Workshop on Flight Controller Setup and Calibration of Drone at Shyam Ji Auditorium. The workshop aimed to provide students with practical exposure to drone flight controller systems and help them understand the technical processes involved in drone configuration, calibration, operation, and maintenance.
The workshop introduced students to the basic concepts, functions, components, and interfaces of drone flight controllers. Participants gained knowledge of flight controller hardware, sensors, installation and wiring, configuration software, firmware setup, and basic parameter configuration. Particular emphasis was placed on flight controller configuration and calibration procedures.
An important component of the workshop was practical learning related to the calibration of key sensors, including the accelerometer, gyroscope, and compass, which are essential for stable and safe drone operation. Students also received exposure to troubleshooting procedures and pre-flight checks, enabling them to understand how to prepare drones for operation and identify common setup-related issues.
The hands-on orientation helped students connect theoretical concepts with actual drone setup and maintenance practices. The workshop strengthened their practical understanding of emerging UAV technologies and highlighted the relevance of drone systems in areas such as robotics, embedded systems, and Internet of Things (IoT) applications.
The workshop also provided students with greater awareness of potential career and research opportunities in drone technology and autonomous systems. The initiative reflected Quantum University's focus on experiential and industry-relevant learning, encouraging students to develop practical technical skills and explore emerging technologies through hands-on experiences.
