The Department of Mechanical Engineering, Quantum University, Roorkee, in collaboration with Electronics & ICT Academy, C-DAC Patna, successfully organized a Five-Day Faculty Development Program (FDP) on "Python Programming for Engineering Applications" from 14th to 18th July 2026. The program aimed to strengthen the programming competencies of faculty members while enabling them to effectively integrate Python into engineering education, research, and industry-oriented applications through a blend of theoretical learning and practical implementation.
Over the course of five days, participants explored Python programming fundamentals, scientific computing, data analysis, and visualization using powerful libraries such as NumPy, Pandas, and Matplotlib. Expert-led sessions combined interactive lectures with hands-on coding exercises, helping faculty members build a strong foundation in Python and apply computational techniques to solve real-world engineering problems.
The program also introduced participants to emerging technologies, including embedded systems, MicroPython, ESP32 development, IoT applications, sensors, actuators, and communication protocols such as UART, I²C, and SPI. Practical demonstrations and laboratory sessions enabled participants to gain valuable experience in developing smart engineering solutions, real-time data monitoring, and dashboard visualization for modern engineering applications.
The final phase of the FDP highlighted Python's applications in mechanical engineering, engineering computations, and ecosystem monitoring through mini-project demonstrations. The program concluded with discussions on innovative teaching methodologies, participant assessments, and certificate distribution, recognizing the successful completion of the intensive training.
The Faculty Development Program served as an enriching platform for knowledge exchange, professional development, and interdisciplinary collaboration. By equipping educators with cutting-edge programming and automation skills, the initiative reaffirmed Quantum University's commitment to fostering technological excellence, innovation-driven learning, and industry-ready engineering education, ensuring that faculty members remain well-prepared to mentor the next generation of engineers.
