The Department of Mechanical Engineering, Quantum University organised a workshop on “Preventive Maintenance of Workshop Machines”. The workshop was conducted to provide students with practical knowledge of preventive maintenance practices and help them understand the importance of regular care and maintenance of workshop machines.
More than 20 students actively participated in the workshop and gained exposure to basic maintenance procedures followed in mechanical workshops. The session covered important aspects including machine inspection, cleaning, lubrication, tightening of components, adjustment of machine parts, identification of common faults and timely replacement of worn-out components.
Students were also guided on safe operating practices and the role of preventive maintenance in reducing machine breakdowns, improving machine efficiency and increasing machine service life. The practical focus of the workshop enabled participants to understand how systematic maintenance can contribute to the effective functioning of workshop equipment.
The session provided an interactive learning environment where students were able to connect theoretical concepts with practical applications. The hands-on exposure helped enhance their awareness of maintenance procedures while strengthening their technical understanding and practical skills.
Overall, the workshop contributed to improving students’ knowledge of systematic preventive maintenance of workshop machines and reinforced the importance of regular inspection, upkeep and safe operating practices in mechanical workshops.
