24 September 2026

The NSS Unit of Quantum University, Roorkee celebrated NSS Foundation Day through a vibrant cultural and social-awareness programme titled “Sangam 2.0”. The programme was organised to commemorate the spirit of the National Service Scheme and encourage students to understand the values of community service, social responsibility, unity, leadership and active citizenship.

The event brought together NSS volunteers, Quantum University students and faculty members, and students and teachers from Sunrise Academy, Hasanpur, providing a common platform for cultural expression, creativity, social awareness and community participation. The programme aimed to strengthen students’ leadership, communication, teamwork and organisational skills while encouraging them to actively engage with social issues and community welfare.

The cultural segment featured folk songs, folk-based cultural performances and a skit highlighting social values and responsible citizenship. An Extempore Competition provided students with an opportunity to express their views on contemporary issues such as female safety, food adulteration, natural disasters and environmental concerns. The “Rise and Resolve” Competition encouraged participants to identify social challenges and present resolutions promoting awareness, preparedness, empathy, responsible behaviour and community participation.

A Poster Presentation Competition was also organised on themes related to social awareness, environmental protection, community service and responsible citizenship. Students from both Quantum University and Sunrise Academy, Hasanpur, participated in the activity. A Rangoli Preparation Competition further added a creative dimension to the programme, enabling participants to express social and cultural themes through traditional art.

The programme was graced by Mr. Avdesh Pundhir, Manager, YUVA, Dehradun, as the Chief Guest. In his address, he highlighted the role of NSS in developing socially responsible and active citizens and encouraged students and volunteers to participate actively in social-service activities. Mrs. Monika Saini and Mrs. Rupa Saini, teachers from Sunrise Academy, Hasanpur, also joined the programme as guests, further strengthening interaction between the university and the school community.

Sangam 2.0 resulted in greater awareness among students about the objectives and significance of NSS while providing volunteers with opportunities to strengthen leadership, coordination and organisational abilities. The participation of Sunrise Academy students also contributed to meaningful school–university community engagement. Overall, the celebration reinforced the spirit of volunteerism, social awareness, creativity and responsible citizenship among the participants.
