Quantum University Celebrates Harela with Mega Plantation Drive, Promoting Environmental Sustainability

03 August 2026

The Department of Agricultural Studies, Quantum University, celebrated the spirit of Harela by organizing a Mega Plantation Drive as part of the Orientation Programme for first-year students. The initiative aimed to promote environmental sustainability, increase the green cover of the campus, and instill a sense of ecological responsibility among newly admitted students.

The plantation drive witnessed enthusiastic participation from more than 200 first-year students and over 100 faculty members. The event was graced by Dr. Satiender Kumar, Dean Academics; Dr. Manish Srivastava, Director, Quantum School of Business Studies; Dr. Santosh Verma, Principal, School of Health Sciences; Dr. Karan Babar, Dean Student Welfare; and Dr. Gaurav Aggarwal, Dean Research. Their presence inspired students to actively contribute to environmental conservation and reinforced the University's commitment to sustainable development.

During the drive, participants planted more than 100 saplings across different locations on the university campus, including 35 Jacaranda, 35 Gulmohar, 20 Champa, and 20 Ashoka plants. Faculty members guided students on proper plantation techniques, post-plantation care, and the long-term ecological benefits of tree plantation. The selected species were chosen for their aesthetic appeal, shade, air-purifying qualities, and contribution to biodiversity.

Addressing the gathering, the dignitaries highlighted the significance of the Harela Festival as a celebration of harmony between humans and nature. They encouraged students to adopt environmentally responsible practices and play an active role in climate change mitigation through plantation and conservation initiatives. The programme concluded with a collective pledge by students and faculty members to nurture the planted saplings and continue supporting green initiatives both within and beyond the university campus.

The Mega Plantation Drive served as a meaningful beginning to the academic journey of the University's newest students while reinforcing Quantum University's vision of creating environmentally conscious citizens. By combining experiential learning with community participation, the initiative reflected the institution's continued commitment to sustainability and building a greener, healthier future.
