Quantum University Achieves Two Major Patent Milestones in Agricultural Technology

14 August 2026

Quantum University, Roorkee, has achieved two significant patent milestones in the field of agricultural technology, with a pioneering design registered and a patent officially granted by Intellectual Property India, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India. These achievements reflect the university’s growing emphasis on innovation, research and technology-driven solutions for agriculture.

The university has successfully registered the design of a “Multi-Purpose Agriculture Robot” with the Controller General of Patents, Designs and Trademarks, India, under Patent Application No. 473858-001. The innovative design has been developed by Mr. Shashwat Pandey, Mr. Lucky Bhardwaj, Mr. Karan Tiwari and Mr. Raja Kumar, students of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, School of Technology, Quantum University.

The multi-purpose agricultural robot is designed to perform several field operations, including sowing, spraying, weeding, monitoring and light harvesting. Featuring a compact all-terrain body with four independently driven wheels, it includes a modular tool attachment system for different agricultural tasks and a retractable telescopic arm with a multi-axis manipulator for applications such as fruit picking and pruning.

In another major achievement, Quantum University has received a patent for “A Crop Management System and A Method for Managing Crops”, under Patent Application No. 202311039410, granted as Patent No. 593614. The invention has been developed by Dr. Satender Kumar, Professor, Department of Computer Sciences & Engineering, School of Technology. The system integrates agricultural data collection, statistical analysis, predictive modelling, machine learning, resource optimization and decision-support tools to provide data-driven insights for effective crop management.

These two patent achievements reaffirm Quantum University’s commitment to advancing innovation and interdisciplinary research while developing technology-based solutions to real-world agricultural challenges. With these additions, the university has now secured a total of 88 granted patents, including 38 utility patents and 50 design patents, further strengthening its reputation as a centre for innovation, intellectual property creation and industry-relevant research.
