The Quantum School of Hospitality & Tourism (QSHT), Quantum University, Roorkee celebrated World Tourism Day 2026 with active participation from students and faculty members. The programme was organised to create awareness about the significance of tourism and hospitality while providing students with opportunities to interact with experienced industry professionals and gain practical exposure.
Students from the BHM, CHM and DHM programmes participated enthusiastically in the celebration. The programme focused on bridging the gap between classroom learning and industry practices while developing students’ confidence, communication skills, professional personality, creativity, teamwork and practical understanding of hospitality operations.
An insightful industry interaction was conducted by Mr. Ashwani Jain, General Manager, Regenta Hotel, Dehradun – A Royal Orchid Group of Hotels. He shared practical insights into hotel operations and employer expectations, covering professional grooming and etiquette, guest handling, communication, teamwork, discipline, work culture, career opportunities, industrial training and continuous learning. Students actively interacted with him and gained a better understanding of professional requirements in the hospitality sector.
A special attraction of the celebration was a live culinary demonstration by Chef Sanjay, which provided students with practical exposure to professional food presentation and plating. The demonstration covered the arrangement of food components, balance and visual appeal, use of sauces and garnishes, portioning, colour and texture, creativity, precision and professional standards of plating. The session helped students connect classroom concepts with practical culinary operations.
The enthusiastic participation of students was another major highlight of the programme. Their involvement provided opportunities to build confidence, overcome stage hesitation, develop communication and teamwork skills, demonstrate creativity, and interact with industry professionals.
The World Tourism Day celebration served as a blend of academic learning, industry interaction, practical demonstration and student engagement, reinforcing QSHT’s focus on experiential learning, industry-academia interaction, holistic development and preparing confident and professionally capable hospitality graduates.
