The Department of Commerce and Finance, Quantum University, Roorkee, in collaboration with Bandhan Bank, Chhutmalpur Branch, organized a rural financial literacy outreach programme titled “Jan Dhan Jagriti” on 29 November 2025 at Badkala village, Chhutmalpur. The initiative was designed to spread awareness about essential government financial schemes and strengthen financial inclusion at the grassroots level.

The outreach activity was coordinated by Ms. Rupali Khurana under the guidance of Dr. Varsha Gupta. A team of bank officials from Bandhan Bank, Chhutmalpur Branch, accompanied the university team and played a key role in ensuring accurate information sharing and addressing queries raised by villagers. Students from B.Com Third Year actively participated in the campaign and served as the primary link between the bank officials and the rural community.

The students engaged with villagers through door-to-door visits, small group discussions, and interactive awareness sessions. During these interactions, they explained the purpose, benefits, eligibility criteria and application process of major government schemes, including Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana, Ayushman Card, Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, Atal Pension Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana. Special emphasis was placed on the importance of savings, insurance coverage, pension planning and access to formal credit for small businesses and self employment.
The presence of bank officials helped villagers gain clarity on practical aspects such as account opening, documentation requirements and scheme enrollment. The campaign encouraged open interaction, allowing villagers to share their concerns and seek guidance related to banking and financial security.

The outreach activity created a meaningful learning experience for students while delivering real value to the rural community. It strengthened awareness of banking services, insurance and social security schemes, and motivated villagers to adopt formal financial systems for a more secure and informed future. The initiative reflected Quantum University’s commitment to community engagement, experiential learning and social responsibility through education.
