Dr. Chunnu Lal

Dr. Chunnu Lal is an accomplished academician and researcher in the field of Computer Science and Engineering and has been serving as an Assistant Professor at Quantum University, Roorkee since 2015. With over a decade of academic engagement, he possesses strong expertise in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Cyber Security, Wireless Sensor Networks, and IoT-based systems. He earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering from Quantum University and completed his M.Tech (CSE) with distinction from Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture and Technology. He has qualified UGC-NET (2014) and GATE (2012, 2015, 2021), reflecting his solid academic foundation and subject proficiency. Technically, he is proficient in C, Java, and Shell Programming, with strong command over Data Structures, UNIX/Linux, Operating Systems, Computer Networks, and Artificial Intelligence. He also holds professional certifications in Machine Learning and Deep Learning Specialization (Coursera), further strengthening his applied AI expertise.

Research & Patents

Dr. Lal has made significant research contributions through multiple publications indexed in Scopus and UGC-CARE, focusing on AI-driven fraud detection, deep learning-based water quality prediction, student interest prediction models, image processing, and network security. His M.Tech thesis addressed energy-efficient detection mechanisms against Denial-of-Service attacks in Wireless Sensor Networks. An active innovator, he holds several published patents in emerging domains, including Zero Trust Security Systems, Digital Deliberation Systems, Wireless Security Systems, Email and Data Forensics-based Unauthorized User Detection, AI-based Video Recommendation Systems, and IoT-enabled Smart Rainwater Harvesting Systems. In addition to his research and innovation activities, he has contributed to organizing national workshops and actively participates in research-driven academic initiatives, demonstrating his commitment to continuous learning, innovation, and mentoring students toward industry readiness and research excellence.
