Industrial Visit to NHAI Project by B.TECH. Civil Engineering Second Year Students

The Department of Civil Engineering, School of Technology, Quantum University, organized an industrial visit on 9th September to NHAI Project for its second-year students. The visited NHAI Project site is located on NH 307 that connects Dehradun and Saharanpur. National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has been entrusted with the National Highways Development Project, which along with other minor projects, has vested in it 50329 kms of National Highways for development, maintenance, and management.

During the industrial visit, the students learned various aspects of the construction of well foundation for a mini bridge having a diameter of 4.5 m, wall thickness of 550 mm, and height of 18 m. Students took a keen interest in observing the sinking operation of well foundation. They also understood the bending of bars/ reinforcement and casting of well using M25 concrete from the supervisor and foreman.

Site Engineer Mr. Alam displayed the actual drawing of the project, activity chart manuals, and the quality control parameters during execution. He also explained the repairing process of the pile foundation of the old bridge.

The Site Engineer guided the visit in a lovely way and answered all the students’ queries.
