Civil Engineering Students of Quantum University Attended a Workshop on ‘Irrigation Water Management Using Soil Moisture and Canal Discharge Data’

8 civil engineering students of Quantum University attended a workshop called the ‘Advanced Entrepreneurship and Skill Development Program (E-SDP)’, organized by the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee at the Department of Water Resources Development and Management, IIT Roorkee. It focused on the topic of ‘Irrigation Water Management Using Soil Moisture and Canal Discharge Data’ and took place from February 26th to March 1st.

Considering the unpredictable rainfall patterns and unreliable irrigation water supply, it is crucial to efficiently use irrigation water resources. The workshop will further educate students on how farmers use information about rainfall, soil water content, and crop status to make decisions about irrigation timing. A range of topics will be covered through lectures, field visits, and laboratory exercises.

It will offer students invaluable benefits, from acquiring specialized knowledge in irrigation water management to hands-on experience through field and lab exercises. This exposure will provide an opportunity to learn from leading experts, and with the tools to tackle pressing environmental challenges.
