Survey Camp : Quantum University Civil Engineering Students Explored Diverse Surveying Techniques at Bhatta Gaon

From February 19th to 24th, 2024, students of the Civil Engineering Department of Quantum University had the opportunity to attend a survey camp at Bhatta Gaon, located about 6 kilometers before Mussoorie, Uttarakhand. The camp witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and faculty, aimed at enhancing their practical understanding of civil engineering.

The primary goal of the camp was to provide students with hands-on fieldwork experience, essential for fully grasping civil engineering concepts. It merged theoretical learning with practical application, exposing students to real-world challenges in the field.

Students were organized into five groups, each led by a group leader and supported by a faculty member or technician for efficient workflow. Each group was tasked with specific surveying exercises, equipped with the necessary instruments. The activities covered included Fly Leveling, Compass Surveying, Theodolite Surveying, Plane Table Surveying, Contouring, and using the Total Station.

The visit ensured that students gained a comprehensive understanding of surveying’s technical aspects, crucial for civil engineering. The students got hands-on experience in the field, offering an invaluable chance to learn and apply surveying techniques in real situations.
