Quantum University BHM Students Prepared Punjabi Cuisine

A practical class on Punjabi Cuisine was organized by the School of Hospitality and Tourism, Quantum University, Roorkee which is well known for its rich, buttery flavors along with the extensive vegetarian and meat dishes. Students of BHM had the opportunity to learn some of the famous popular dishes from Punjab, including dal makhani, aloo gobhi, and tandoori roti. Punjabi main dishes include Sarson dā saâg (a stew whose main ingredient is mustard greens) and Makki di roti (flatbreads made with cornmeal).


Chef Parmesh Dutt gave practical input to the students on traditional and modern methods of cooking Punjabi food items. He informed them about the traditional stoves and ovens that were used to cook and bake delicacies. Students learned how Punjabi cuisine is incomplete without milk products like butter, buttermilk, curd, and panner that enhance their flavor.


Students prepared savory dishes like Kadhi Pakora, Rice, Parathas, and Tandoori roti along with Lassi that rule over the hearts of all food lovers. The students got an opportunity to learn some of the more popular dishes from the region, from dal makhani to tandoori roti.
