Quantum University participated in the Industry Linkage Workshop organized by Tourism & Hospitality Skill Council, UKSDM & UNDP

Students of the School of Hospitality and Tourism, Quantum University, Roorkee participated in a conference on Industry Linkage Workshop organized by THSC, Uttarakhand Skill Development Mission and United Nations Development Program at Hotel Pacific. 

The event was graced by the Presence of Shri Vijay Kumar Yadav, Secretary-Skill Development and Employment UKSDM, Ms. Chandrakanta, Nodal Officer-UKSDM, Ms. Poonam Chand, Dy. Director-Department of Tourism, Uttarakhand, Mr. Rajan Bahadur, CEO, THSC, Dr. Pradeep Mehta, UNDP State Head, Uttarakhand. Keynote speakers of the Workshop were Mr. Amardeep Singh, General Manager-Westin Rishikesh, Mr. Suresh Kala, Resident Manager-Aloha, a five-star premium hotel, Rishikesh, and Mr. Mukesh Bijlawan, Dy. Registrar Swami Rama Himalayan University, Dehradun, and Prof.Harshwanti Bisht, President-Indian Mountaineering Foundation.

The Workshop took place from 10’o clock in the morning and commenced with a discussion and presentation on Cautious Tourism Development. The Tourism Department emphasized promoting tourists who visit nature places with caution taking care of the natural Flora and Fauna. Due to the litter and filth generated by a few irresponsible tourists in the National Park near Nanda Devi, a major step was taken on how to preserve the wealth of nature. The decision was taken to close the doors of the National Park for tourists for ten years. 

Tourism & Hospitality Skill Council has presented various skill and Apprenticeship programs which are already running in a recent collaboration with Swami Himalayan University, Dehradun, Amity University, Noida Etc. Further discussions took place on the economic potential of Uttarakhand.

Q-Mates with their faculties Chef. Parmesh Dutt & Ms. Deepti Bhatt actively participated in the workshop along with other academicians from different universities. The workshop concluded with a Question & Answer session regarding the current issues related to skills, opportunities, Hotel Industry, Sustainability, etc. THSC disseminated awareness regarding skill courses and invited everyone to join hands in collaboration for bright careers for Students in the sector of Hospitality and Tourism.
