School of Hospitality and Tourism Organizes Guest Lecture on ‘Green Hotels – Sustainable Tourism Development

Department of Hospitality and Tourism had organized a guest lecture on Green Hotels – Sustainable Tourism Development at Quantum University, Roorkee via an online mode. Under the supervision of Mr. Virendra Kumar Arya, the event was honored by the guest Dr. Akhilesh Singh from Uttarakhand Open University Haldwani Nainital. 

Students of BHM and CHM were present during the event who participated in the guest lecture by connecting through an online mode. Green Hotel also known as Eco Hotels, is committed to environmentally friendly practices that are adopted by various hotels. These practices were taught to the hotel management students who further gained knowledge about the sustainable development of green hotels & various types of sustainable tourism like- Ecotourism, Green Tourism, Soft Tourism, Rural Tourism, and Agricultural Tourism. The guest speaker Dr. Akhilesh Singh highlighted important aspects of the green hotel to the students. He also explained the strict green guidelines to ensure that the guests staying in the hotel are receiving a safe, non-toxic, and energy-efficient accommodation. 


The aim of this lecture was to let BHM students know what influences the intentions of hotel guests to stay at green hotels and engage in green programs. With the renowned lecture, our students got to know the benefits of a green hotel and its importance in the future.
