The Department of Commerce, School of Graduate Studies, Quantum University, organized a presentation on Tally, an ERP accounting software package, on Thursday, 14th October 2021.
Govind Singh, Assistant Professor, Quantum University, introduced Tally accounting software to the first-year BCom students. He explained its various functions in detail, including basic accounting, costing, payroll administration, budgeting, and interest calculation in a lucid manner. The presenter also talked about its origin, advantages, and disadvantages. He advised the students to practice the software very well before completing their graduation.
After the presentation, the students also shared their experiences. One of the students, Neha, said, “I learned a lot in the session of tally presentation like how can you create multiple ledgers in Tally ERP? As Tally allows one to generate multiple types of ledgers, namely the ones for sales/ purchase, income and expense, party ledger, tax ledger, bank account, and current liabilities.”
Another student, Abhishek, said, “The presentation was more participative than lectures and it was so interesting. I have learnt the various functions of Tally like filing tax returns, preparing balance sheets and profit/ loss statements, calculating GST, fund flow statements, etc.”
