The Department of Mechanical Engineering, School of Technology, Quantum University conducted a Workshop on Metrology and Calibration on 29th September last month for its students.
The invited performer of the workshop was Lab Superintendent Mohd. Azam from the organizing department. He started the workshop by introducing metrology as the science of measurement. Later, he talked about the basic principle of calibration.
The students learned about the quality assurance methods used to calibrate the machinery for production and to measure the results. They also understood the need to verify the correctness of the devices and tools used for recording such measurements. The young minds were amazed to know about the purpose and importance of measurement in their daily life.
Mr Azam further emphasized on reaching the right decisions in different areas by reducing the errors.
