Mr. Guru Prabhat, Sr. Assistant Professor, delivered a guest lecture on Vedic Mathematics to students of B.Sc (Hons.) Physics, BSc (Hons.) Chemistry and BSc (Hons.) Mathematics. The main objective of this guest lecture was to introduce students to Vedic Mathematics tricks which will help them to overcome the fear of Mathematics and teach them easy ways to solve mathematics problems. More than 50 students and faculty members attended the lecture.

Mr. Guru Prabhat began his lecture by talking about the background of Vedic Mathematics. He told students that Vedic Mathematics comes from the Vedas, more specifically the Atharva Veda. It was revived by Indian mathematician Jagadguru Shri Bharati Krishna Tirthaji between 1911 and 1918. Vedic mathematics is a gift of Krishna Tirtha; it is a collection of invaluable techniques that can profoundly improve our speed, understanding, and performance in mathematics and other sciences. He said, “Unlike the conventional methods, in Vedic Mathematics there are innumerable ways to solve a problem. Vedic Maths gives us the wide liberty to choose the technique which is most convenient for us. The beauty of Vedic Mathematics is that it can be understood easily by people of any age group and any calibre. It enhances the ability to approach and solve mathematical problems.”

In this interactive session, various Vedic Mathematical techniques were discussed which made students realize that Vedic Maths helps a person to solve mathematical problems 10 -15 times faster and improve academic performance, give instant results and sharpens the mind. Mr. Guru Prabhat introduced the students to various applications of Vedic Mathematics for aptitude development which would help them during placements.
