Guest lecture at Quantum University

A Guest lecture on “Applications of IoT in Agriculture” organised at the Shyamji Auditorium.

Mr. Mahinder Swain, Assistant Professor from the Computer Science Department of Quantum University, Roorkee took a guest lecture at Shyamji Auditorium. He is a person with vast knowledge and industrial experience. He began his lecture by speaking on “IoT at a glance” and highlighted the vast scope of the subject, its applications and job opportunities in the area. He also explained the benefits of smart farming with IoT.

He said, “As per the recent statistics, the global population is about to reach 9.6 billion by 2050. And to feed this massive population, the agriculture industry is bound to adopt the Internet of Things. The challenge of extreme weather conditions, climate changes, environmental impact, can be solved using IoT. He further added, “ IoT can be used to meet the demand for more food.”

He discussed smart introduction agriculture systems and their advantages. He also highlighted the future of IoT in India and abroad. In the end, an interaction QA session was conducted where students quizzed Mr Mahinder Swain on several issues ranging from the basics to technical aspects of IoT.
