To celebrate Anti-Leprosy Day and Dietetics Day, Quantum School of Health Sciences organised various activities at the campus, including rangoli competition, guest lecture and an awareness program.
In the morning, Dr Praveen Kumar delivered a guest lecture on ‘Leprosy’ to B.Pharma and D.Pharma students. He told that the day is observed internationally every year on the last Sunday of January to increase the public awareness of the Leprosy or Hansen’s Disease. He further said, “The date was chosen by Raoul Follereau as a tribute to the life of Mahatma Gandhi who had compassion for people afflicted with leprosy.”
Post lunch, an awareness program began where students performed a skid to make people of Barkla village aware of types, causative agent and treatment of leprosy. The students gave a spectacular performance and made villagers aware of the fact that leprosy is curable and treatment in the early stages can prevent disability. The villagers enjoyed the play and applauded for students.
Lastly, rangoli and menu card competition was organised where students showcased their creativity. The students displayed healthy recipes through their rangolis, which won a huge appreciation from the judges. Finally, awards were distributed to the winners. Under the guidance and supervision of Dr Praveen Kumar and Ms Saloni Arora, the event concluded successfully.
