Quantum University files 11 patents in the field of Science and Technology.

Quantum University, Roorkee has recently filed 11 patents, as a result of a very thriving culture of research and development at the campus. Both students and faculty have always responded very well to the various incentives provided under a comprehensive research policy to promote research and patents. Quantum University ensures a very conducive environment for innovation and for out-of-the-box thinking. As Artificial Intelligence, IoT, and cybersecurity gain increasing application, the maximum number of patents have been filed by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering and the Department of Electronics and Communication. The faculty, as well as the students of these departments, showed great readiness to embrace the forthcoming changes in their domains. It may be worth mentioning here that Quantum University is among the first Universities in the country, including the IITs, to offer futuristic B.Tech (Hons) programs, in collaboration with the industry, in Cyber Security, AI & ML and IoT, among others. The patents were filed in a wide range of fields such as Data Security Methods, Intelligence Multimedia Selection System, Wireless Security Systems, and much more.

All research and patent filing activity at the University is guided, supported and monitored by the very effective Intellectual Property Right (IPR) Cell. It adopts a number of measures to assist the paper writing and research activity, right up to the filing of patents. It arranges workshops both for faculty and students on research methodology, helps in arranging guides and co-guides, monitors the progress of research scholars, assists them with patent filing procedures and continuously makes them aware of the financial potential of their innovative ideas.

Mr Ajay Goyal, Chancellor, Quantum University congratulated students and faculty members for their achievements and said, “At Quantum, we will always keep on providing a positive research culture and support to our students and faculties so that a large number of them could engage themselves in good quality, highly innovative and productive research. ” He further said, “Quantum University is committed to excelling in research and development in all the disciplines and transform India into a knowledge-based developed economy and society. ”

Dr Chandani Sharma who represents the patent titled “System and method for face recognition” told that Quantum University has signed MoUs with leading industries for enhancing consultancy and research activities. Close tie-ups with the industry leaders help the researcher in gaining the required exposure and expertise. Moreover, the university provides incentives for outstanding research articles, projects and patents and promote research culture through all means.

While emphasising the need of research Prof. Vivek Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, said, “Education sector always requires constant updation and modification which is only possible through vibrant research aptitude. Only research can help in developing new insights and making the education sector more vibrant and scientific.” He further continued, “ The number of patents being filed by Indian Universities has been limited to only the topmost universities of India. But for transforming India into a developed economy and society, the trend of a greater number of patent filings has to permeate to a wider level. Quantum University has taken several steps in this direction”.

Over the past few months, Quantum University has shown remarkable growth in the number of filing patents and has become one of the most prolific patent filers among higher education institutes. The university has filed 23 patents in the past one year, which is a unique achievement by any Indian University. Having embarked on the quest to become an innovation hub, the university is actively promoting research and supporting all individuals involved.
