Industry tours form a part of the curriculum at Quantum University. Different field trips and excursions are planned and executed at Quantum University regularly. These tours ensure that students gain practical insights into industry operations. Recently, Quantum School of Technology organised an industrial visit to Galogi Power Plant, Dehradun for B.Tech and Diploma in Electrical Engineering students.
Upon reaching the destination, Mr Manish, Junior Engineer, conducted a briefing session where he told students about the brief history of the hydropower plant. He told students that Galogi hydel power station was among the earliest hydropower plants commissioned by the British in 1907 and the plant continues to be in service, nearly 106 years later. Mr Manish helped students to understand the process of electricity generation with the help of three turbines each having capacity of 1MW. Post-lunch students were shown about the fault detecting techniques using SCADA software with display monitor screen.
The visit was concluded with a question and answer session where students raised many technical questions which were answered by Mr Manish. The visit proved highly beneficial for students.
