Quantum School of Agricultural Studies organised an industrial visit to Agro met station, Muzaffarabad, Saharanpur for the first-year students of BSc Agriculture. Around 60 students and faculty members became a part of this visit. The main aim of the visit was to make students aware of the information about weather changes and how do it affect crops and agriculture.
Upon reaching the venue, students and faculty members were warmly welcomed by the officials of the agromet station. Students were very excited to meet renowned scientist Mr Umesh, who delivered an expert talk.
Students attended the talks of Mr Umesh, who discussed different weather parameters and their importance and how modern techniques such as Artificial Neural Network (ANN) etc. can help in predicting those parameters. Also, he discussed other crop modelling techniques as well. At the end of the talk, he discussed the working of different instruments like Sunshine Recorder, Soil thermometer, Rain Gauge etc.
After the expert talk, students were taken for the visit around the observatory. With all the knowledge and information students have gained; the return journey was started towards Quantum campus back and reached at 3:30 pm noon.
