Quantum School of Health Sciences organised an industrial visit to Bharti Dairy Products, Saharanpur for BSc and MSc students of Nutrition and Dietitics. The visit aimed to take students beyond academics and provide them with a practical perspective on the working environment. More than fifty students guided by two faculty members became a part of this visit.
On visiting Bharti Dairy Products, students were shown the complete process of milk collection and milk processing. Sensory evaluation and adulteration techniques were shown to students. Milk transportation facilities, product lines and milk supply chains were explained in detail. Students were shown the live testing of the fat content of milk by manual and machine processes. Students also learnt about the chilling, homogenization, pasteurization and packaging of the milk. They also got to know about the quality assurance process followed by Bharti Dairy Products at various stages i.e. milk collection from farmers, pasteurization, post pasteurization, packaging, post packaging and then market delivery. Furthermore, students learnt about the preparation of different milk products like cottage cheese, curd with culture, khoa etc. at the industrial level. Overall it was a highly informative visit and students got the opportunity to learn practically through interaction, working methods and employment practices. It enriched the knowledge and exposure of the students.
