Ahead of Christmas celebrations, Quantum University celebrated cake mixing ceremony to bring alive the rich tradition and unveil the spirit of the festive season. The tradition of cake mixing ceremony has very old roots and heralds the Christmas season which is incomplete without the rich and sumptuous Christmas cake.
Spreading the cheer, Mr D C Vashishth, Head, School of Hospitality and Tourism; Dr Gulshan Chauhan, Director, Quantum School of Technology; Dr Lokender Tyagi, Director, Quantum School of Business were present at the ceremony. The event was also graced by the presence of Prof. Vivek Kumar, Vice-Chancellor. Mr Saloni Arora, Coordinator, Quantum School of Health Sciences, mixed the dry fruits with rum and began the ceremony amidst tradition and fanfare. Guests and associates put on a chef’s apron, hats and gloves to join the mixing ceremony. Everyone rolled up their sleeves and put their hands in the mixing pots to make a delicious Christmas cake.
An array of fruits, including raisins, glazed red cherries, orange peel, dried apricots, prunes and nuts like walnuts, cashew, almond flakes and pistachio, aside from spices such as ground cardamom, cinnamon and cloves were poured into a huge cauldron. The mixing reached a spirited level when syrups like golden syrup, honey, molasses, vanilla essence and wines were added. Then the mixture was tossed and turned till it was drenched in the festive spirit. Chef Sanjay Butola was assisted by Mr Deepak Rawat, Mr Gaurav Mamgain and all the students of Quantum School of Hospitality and Tourism for conducting the cake mixing ceremony. The mixture was put into the airtight containers.
On Christmas, this mixture will be blended with the cake batter and baked. This year the festive celebration at Quantum University is sure to create everlasting memories.
