Students of Pahal Club organised an awareness program on rainwater harvesting in Badkla village, Chuttmulpur. The program was organised under the supervision and guidance of Dr N.Murugalatha and Mr Saurav Sharma. The main objective of this program was to make school children and the public of Badkla Village aware of the importance of rainwater harvesting and spread awareness among them about various rainwater harvesting methods.
Students of Pahal Club conducted rallies while holding placards in their hands to make public of Badkla Village aware of the importance of rainwater harvesting. Villagers were exposed to various eco-friendly techniques of preserving every drop of water and storing rainwater in chambers and ultimately recharging groundwater.
Dr N. Murugalatha explained to villagers that rising population, industrial activities and rising farm produce are putting stress on groundwater, which is ultimately resulting in rapid groundwater depletion. Mr Saurav Sharma explained villagers about modern technologies that can be used for rainwater harvesting. Furthermore, he asked villagers to adopt rooftop rainwater harvesting.
By organising various fun-filled activities for villagers, students of Pahal Club briefed villagers about the local water wealth in the form of annual rainfall, water bodies like rivers and groundwater. In addition to this, they were also made aware of the sustainable use of groundwater resources. Students of Pahal Club also performed a short play and told villagers about the various benefits of rainwater harvesting such as the reduction in soil erosion, improvement in the quality of groundwater and prevention of flooding etc. The program ended at a positive note where villagers learned about various solutions for sustainable living.
