On the 27th of September 2024, 55 students from the Civil Engineering department, along with 4 faculty members, attended an educational visit to the Central Building Research Institute (CBRI) in Roorkee. The visit was organized in celebration of the CSIR Foundation Day, providing a unique opportunity for students to gain insight into cutting-edge research and development in building technologies.
Upon arrival, the students were welcomed by Dr. Hemlata, a Scientist at CBRI, who led the group through various demonstrations showcasing a wide spectrum of advancements in the field of construction and civil engineering. Dr. Hemlata provided an in-depth overview, starting from ancient structural innovations and transitioning to the latest innovations developed by CSIR for building technology. The session highlighted how traditional practices have evolved into modern, efficient methods, underscoring the importance of sustainable and resilient building materials in the future of civil engineering.
Special thanks were extended to Dr. Nadeem Ahmad Chief Scientist & Head, Outreach & Dissemination Services Office, for his exceptional efforts in coordinating the entire event and ensuring its smooth execution. His contributions played a key role in making the visit educational and engaging for all participants.
This visit enabled the students to bridge theoretical knowledge with practical applications, enriching their understanding of modern building technologies and inspiring them to explore new frontiers in civil engineering. The faculty members and students expressed their gratitude to CBRI for their warm hospitality and the invaluable learning experience.
