The School of Hospitality and Tourism, Quantum University, Roorkee organized a food production practical on February 21, 2023. A fruit carving workshop was conducted for the students, which is the art of carving fruit. Fruit carving is very common in Europe and Asian countries, and is particularly popular in Thailand, China, and Japan.
Many fruits can be used in this process; the most popular ones that artists use are watermelons, apples, strawberries, pineapples, and cantaloupes. The students were trained to use specialized tools and techniques using different angles to get the best result. They were taught to carve fruits and vegetables step by step to create different flowers for garnishing on plates or buffets etc.
