Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, Quantum University, Roorkee organized a guest lecture on the theme “Happiness: Concept and Nature in Positive Psychology Perspective” on the occasion of World Kindness Day (13th November). The guest speaker of the event Dr. Anuradha Kotnala, Associate Professor, Department of Psychology, Dev Sanskriti University, Haridwar (Uttarakhand) elaborated and delivered her knowledge and experiences on the theme.
In her lecture, she said that happiness is a kind of positive emotion that led to human beings to positivity. In the first part of the lecture, Dr. A. Kotnala threw light upon the theoretical aspect of the theme “Happiness” from a positive psychology perspective. She explored the various theories and models related to happiness and subjective well-being. She also explained that happiness and satisfaction have a positive correlation. She delivered some strategies to be happier in life. She also explored the culinary aspect relationship of happiness with other factors such as education, culture, health, social economic status, climate, etc.
Students learned about positive psychology & different emotions in their lives at the end of the event. Additionally, they learned how to apply positive psychology to their academic studies. As students were able to clarify their questions and doubts throughout the event, they felt satisfied and happy. The event was a successful one.
