The Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, Quantum University, Roorkee organized a guest lecture on – ‘Stress Management’. The program was conducted by Ms. Abhilasha Agarwal, Director of The Beautiful Mind: A Complete Mental Health Care and Training Centre, Jaipur who has completed her Masters in Clinical Psychology from IIS University, Jaipur M.Phil. in Clinical Psychology from Amity University, Rajasthan. She is currently pursuing a Ph.D. from Manipal University, Jaipur & is serving as a Clinical Psychologist in Juvenile Justice Board, Jaipur. Apart from her professional duties she is also active towards removing stigma in the community regarding mental illness and in the area of children and adolescents to improve school mental health in society.
The event started with the welcoming and introduction of the guest by Payal Bhusari student of B. A (H) Psychology. Ms. Agarwal talked about the relevance of the topic at the present times. She said Situations and Circumstances are the same but the approach to dealing with them makes it different. This statement is somewhere true in today’s scenario where everyone is in constant confusion and puzzles. The event progressed with explaination of the Stress, its impact on physiological functioning and health, stress types, signs, and symptoms, stressors, and stress management techniques. She also explained that “Stress can be good or bad, it is our attitude how we tackle it”. She mentioned that its vital to vent out the feelings in front of the person who can give the best guidance instead of keeping the knots in the mind.
In the end Ms. Agarwal explained & guided the students about stress and anxiety being an integral part of human nature. A doubt clearing session was held for the students to ask their queries. Students from different institutions too participated in the discussions and found the session very interactive and informative. The event was productive as the students gained detailed deep knowledge on the topic expressing their wish to learn more from the guest speaker Ms. Abhilasha Agarwal.
