Department of Management, School of Graduate Studies, conducted a Webinar on Stock Market on Thursday, 11th November 2021.
Security Market Trainer of SEBI, Dr. Shikha Gupta was the invited guest for the webinar & Dr. Ram Singh was the organizing coordinator. The program took place over a ZOOM Class where BCom students of the second and third year showed full participation during the guest lecture. The guest performer Dr. Shikha Gupta is impaneled as Security Market Trainer of SEBI and is authorized to conduct investor awareness programs across India.
Investor Protection According to the SEBI Act, 1992 Investor protection is ‘protecting the interest of the investors in securities and promoting the development of and to regulate the securities market and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto.’ Generally, investor protection is known as legislation to protect small investors from unscrupulous investment brokers and advisers. A stock market, equity market, or share market is the aggregation of buyers and sellers of stocks (shares), which represent ownership claims on businesses. Dr. Shikha informed its students that these may include securities listed on a public stock exchange, as well as stock that is only traded privately, such as shares of private companies which are sold to investors through equity crowdfunding platforms. She further added that investment in the stock market is most often done via stock brokerages and electronic trading platforms.
The students learned the importance of SEBI and how the stock market, equity market, and share market function in an economy. They gained knowledge on how essential are economics, accounts, and finance for the commerce field to understand business and the stock market. The students gained in-depth knowledge of trade bonds, commodities, the stock market, and other financial securities in the market.
