Q-mates enjoyed the visit to KDMIPE Campus and ONGC Subir Raha Museum, Dehradun.

An education visit to KDMIPE Campus followed by ONGC Subir Raha Museum, Dehradun was organised by the Quantum School of Technology. The students visited Keshava Deva Malaviya Institute of Petroleum Exploration (KDMIPE) which is the premier centre for basic and applied research in petroleum exploration and deal with the research needs of the various ONGC regions in the areas of basin analysis, petroleum economics, geosciences, and developing alternative sources of energy. The esteem institution was founded in 1962 to provide geo-scientific back-up to the exploratory efforts of ONGC. The students accompanied by their faculty members were taken on a guided tour around KDMIPE. Students were informed about the history and working of the institution. The students were exhilarated when they learnt about the industrial practices and experiments on crude and gas condensates.


The visit to KDMIPE was followed by the visit to ONGC Subir Raha Museum which depicted the various stages of oil and gas value chain. The students visited the first section of the museum and learnt about oil history. In the second section, students gained knowledge about the different samples of various types of crude oils. There were several charts, which helped students to understand the qualities of various crude oils. The third section of the museum helped students in learning about the transportation methods and refining technologies used in the industry. Overall the visit gave an insight into the exploration and production of oil. This educational visit proved to be very beneficial for the students as they got to witness how the petroleum industry works.
