Guest Lecture at Quantum University

Prof. B. K. Kaushik, IIT Roorkee delivered a guest lecture on Micro to Nano Electronics II (Spintronics).

Since its inception, Quantum University has paid a great emphasis upon organising guest lectures of prominent faculties from institutes of national importance. Recently, Prof. B.K. Kaushik from IIT Roorkee delivered a very comprehensive lecture on solid-state memories based on the magnetic field. Prof. B. K. Kaushik began his lecture by discussing the basics of the subject. His core content was centred on sub 10 nm technology. Further, he showed a large number of informative slides about the latest in Spintronics technology and variants of RAM and ROMs. He asked the students to study the basics of memory systems used in day to day equipment. In this lecture, the students were introduced to new technology in electronics domain known as Spintronics.

He described Spintronics as a new technology used for memory. Later on, Spin based devices were introduced to students and their performance was compared with conventional electronics. Prof. Kaushik exposed students to GMR and MJT operation. Their performance and working were discussed with respect to speed, area and reliability. He concluded his lecture with a brief description of micro to nanoelectronic devices. In the end, the house was opened to questions, where Q-mates asked several doubts, which were efficiently answered by Prof. B. K. Kaushik. The lecture was very informative and concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Dr Gulshan Chauhan, Dean of Quantum School of Technology.
