Program Educational Objectives (PEO's)

PEO1 Emphasize the discipline of Physics to be the most important branch of science for pursuing the interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary higher education and/or research in interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary areas.
PEO2 Emphasize the importance of Physics as the most important discipline for sustaining the existing industries and establishing new ones to create job opportunities at all levels of employment.
PEO3 Enhance their professional career through lifelong learning to take-up challenging tasks and adapt to a rapidly changing environment.

Program Specific Outcomes (PSO's)

PSO1 Recognize the importance of mathematical modeling simulation and computing, and the role of approximation and mathematical approaches to describing the physical world.
PSO2 Demonstrate the ability to use skills in Physics and its related areas of technology for formulating and tackling Physics-related problems and identifying and applying appropriate physical principles and methodologies to solve a wide range of problems associated with Physics.
PSO3 Develop the ability to apply the knowledge acquired in the classroom and laboratories to specific problems in theoretical and experimental Physics.

Program Outcomes (PO's)

PO-01 Disciplinary Knowledge and Skill Understanding of major concepts, theoretical principles and experimental findings in Physics and its different subfields like Astrophysics and Cosmology, Material science, Nuclear and Particle Physics, Condensed matter Physics, Atomic and Molecular Physics, Mathematical Physics, Analytical dynamics, Space science and other related fields of study, including broader interdisciplinary subfields like Chemistry, Mathematics, Life sciences, Environmental sciences, Atmospheric Physics, Computer science, Information Technology etc.
PO-02 Critical Thinker and Problem Solver Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.
PO-03 Design/Development of Solutions Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design

System components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.

PO-04 Conduct Investigations of Complex Problems Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions
PO-05 Modern Tool Usage Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modeling to complex physical activities with an understanding of the limitations.
PO-06 The Physicist and Society Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional engineering practice.
PO-07 Environment and Sustainability Understand the impact of the professional solutions in societal and environmental contexts, and demonstrate the knowledge of, and need for sustainable development.
PO-08 Communication Incorporates basics and advanced training in order to make a graduate student capable of expressing the subject through technical writing as well as through oral presentation.
PO-09 Ethics Responsible citizen of India and be aware of moral and ethical baseline of the country and the world. They are expected to define their core ethical virtues good enough to distinguish what construes as illegal and crime in Indian constitution. Emphasis be given on academic and research ethics, including fair Benefit Sharing, Plagiarism, Scientific Misconduct and so on.
PO-10 Individual and Team Work Provide opportunity to act as team player by contributing in laboratory, field-based situation and industry.
PO-11 Project Management and Finance become a skilled project manager by acquiring knowledge about chemistry project management, writing, planning, study of ethical standards and rules and regulations pertaining to scientific project operation.
PO-12 Life-Long Learning Inculcate a habit of learning continuously through use of advanced ICT technique and other available techniques/books/journals for personal academic growth as well as for increasing employability opportunity.
