B.Tech (Hons.) Mechatronics Engineering with specialization in Robotics in collaboration with APS Gmbh Germany

Robotics is an engineering discipline, which concerns itself with the design, construction, operation and applications of robots. Robots are machines capable of executing tasks, which need superhuman strength, speed, precision and tenacity. Such tasks also include hazardous work. Examples of robotic work include automation in industry and the robotic arms used in bomb diffusion squad.

Robotics is a field of interdisciplinary study with its roots in Electrical and Mechanical engineering. It depends on diverse concepts of Computer Science and Electronics for enhancements in information processing, sensory feedback and control.

Candidates especially interested in automation and programing of machines suit this course. Learners with proficiency in mechanical design, electrical design, programming, programmable logic devices, and electronics can gain from this course. Candidates should have a strong grasp of basic principles of science and mathematics. The candidate must have an ability to think in interdisciplinary domains.

The scope of robotics is growing. As there is a thrust on cost cutting it has pushed industries to adopt automation. Robotics systems are proliferating in hazardous work places. Consequently increased numbers robotics experts are needed to coordinate the smooth functioning of robotic system to design, operate, maintain and extend large automated systems.

To foster the vision for Robotics Quantum has signed an MOU with APS GmbH - the European Centre for Mechtronics in Germany. This has resulted in the establishment of an Advance Robotic Control Centrein the Quantum campusdedicated to Automation and Industrial Robotics. The lab operates exclusively under German supervision. The training will provide intensive hands on work experience with the cutting edge Robotics Software. This will allow Quantum students to directly access the latest automation and Robotics technology as practiced in the labs of German tech giants like Volkswagon, Mercedes, BMW and many more.

The collaboration with APS GmbH is multi layered. It extends into active academic coordination. This will start with the integration of modern technology into curriculum. The research and development activity will be deepened. To this end active exchange programs for faculty and students will be executed.

The entire Mechatronics Program at Quantum University is a rare and unprecedented chance for the aspiring engineer to get a fist hand hold on the technology of the future.

The Robotics Engineer has ample growth opportunity in the private and public sector. A number of teaching profiles available in various private and government universities can also be pursued.

A number of fields need robotics experts a few of which include Automation, Food Processing, Micro-Robotics, Medical Robotics, Cybernetics, Signal Processing, Manufacturing Control, Air Traffic Management, Computational Geometry, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Aided Manufacturing, Space Exploration, Nuclear Power, Automobile Industry and Petroleum Engineering. As such plenty of opportunity exists for robotics engineers in India and abroad.

In the public sector they can be employed in organization of repute. Some of the big names include Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO), Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and Precision Automation Robotics India Ltd.

A number of job profiles fit the qualifications of a Robotics Engineer. Instrumentation Engineer, Project Engineer, Design Engineer, System Engineer, Test Engineer, Program Specialist, Maintenance Engineer, and Robotics Technician are some of the popular profiles.
