B.Tech - Electronics & Communication Engineering

ECE is a modern field which envisions the application of electronics to communications engineering. Modern telecommunications can be seen as a direct product of ECE. The various applications in communications involve systems like antennae, transmitter, receiver, analog-digital conversion, satellites, microwave, and wave progression. The engineer works to analyze, design, implement, and maintain the various communication systems. These advances have been made possible due to the magic of electronics.

Advances in ECE have yielded faster satellites communication. This has resulted in faster Internet technologies. Wireless and Networking has revolutionized communications worldwide.

SCOPE AND HIGHLIGHTS

The ECE program aims to achieve a number of tasks. An ECE graduate should be able to develop design of electronic systems and applications in communication and allied technical domains. It is expected that the graduate applies the core engineering knowledge to develop solutions to socio-economic problems. The graduate should be able to execute core engineering tasks. The program aims to instill ethics, effective communication, managerial skills, professionalism and leadership in multi-disciplinary environments.

The ECE graduate will be able to visualize principles of electronic circuits design. The purpose is to design and execute experiments in VLSI design, signal processing, power electronics and communication engineering. The individual capability for higher studies would be enhanced and entrepreneurial ability polished.

An ECE engineer can easily diversify into a number of research fields via a Master’s degree such as MTECH or further academic level of MPHIL and PHD. These specialized fields include VHDL, VLSI, Biomedical Engineering, Control Engineering, Robotics, Photonics, Medical Electronics, Image Processing, Nanotechnology, MEMS (micro-electro-mechanical systems) and Machine Learning.

CAREER
OPPORTUNITIES

The ECE engineers are can access the great number of public sector jobs via a number of exams. Some high profile jobs are available through exams such as IAS, IES, GATE etc.

As far as the private sector is concerned many industries employ ECE engineers. The major sectors are equipment in the semiconductor, medical instrumentation, manufacturing systems, telecommunications, industrial control, aeronautics and military applications.

ECE forms the core of the modern day computer and communication systems. With the growing role of internet technologies the role of the ECE engineer is more than secured. Telephones, cellular phones, embedded systems, and television are the traditional arena of ECE.

ECE Engineers design and maintain satellites, creates advanced communication facilities, develop programs for various control and communication systems.

Growing automation in manufacturing require budding engineers specializing in embedded systems. Such engineers are also required in testing, trouble shooting and maintenance of electronic and electromechanical systems.
